Alsta Hydrogel for Plants, Crop Growth
Alsta Hydrogel is a potassium polyacrylate based polymer for plants that absorbs 500 – 600 times of water of its own weight. The polymer is non-toxic and is mandated to be beneficial for farmers in improving crop yield, especially in dry & drought conditions. It is more beneficial than other super absorbent polymers with respect to the water absorption &retention rate and soil conditioning ability. Upon application, it binds loose soil matter and accelerates seed germination and growth. Using Hydrogel polymer reduces drought stress on plants, mortality rate of saplings and rate of water loss by run off and evaporation.
One of the major advantages of hydrogel for plants is that it can be used on a wide variety of soils. Alsta Hydrogel polymer does not alter the chemical composition of soils on which it is applied, nor does it interfere with the biocidal action of applied fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, etc. It is effective even at high temperature mainly in arid and semi-arid areas.
Working
It has cross-linking molecular structure with a hydrophilic group attached. This group is responsible for water absorption to about 500-600 times of its own weight and forms water beads or crystals. When applied on agricultural field, it acts as a water reservoir for plants this polymer traps the water that comes to the field either through rain or irrigational canal. These trapped water gets released after a certain point over prolonged durations and comes as a relief for stakeholder when the conditions become dry. Hydrogel also absorb vital nutrients from the soil which are then utilized by plants for carrying out various physiological processes.
