Alsta Hydrogel is a potassium polyacrylate based polymer for plants that absorbs 500 – 600 times of water of its own weight. The polymer is non-toxic and is mandated to be beneficial for farmers in improving crop yield, especially in dry & drought conditions. It is more beneficial than other super absorbent polymers with respect to the water absorption &retention rate and soil conditioning ability. Upon application, it binds loose soil matter and accelerates seed germination and growth. Using Hydrogel polymer reduces drought stress on plants, mortality rate of saplings and rate of water loss by run off and evaporation. One of the major advantages of hydrogel for plants is that it can be used on a wide variety of soils. Alsta Hydrogel polymer does not alter the chemical composition of soils on which it is applied, nor does it interfere with the biocidal action of applied fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, etc. It is effective even at high temperature mainly in arid and semi-arid areas.
