PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Alstasan Activ is a 5% peracetic acid disinfectant formulated for food and beverage manufacture. It works by oxidation, breaking down the organic structures pathogens are built from, and it is effective across bacteria, spores, fungi and viruses - including the spore formers that survive most routine sanitisers.

The formulation is non-foaming, which is the property that lets it run through a Clean-In-Place circuit rather than only being applied by hand. Use concentration generally falls between 0.1% and 4% w/w depending on the application, applied by immersion or coarse spray, and it breaks down to non-toxic residues - water, oxygen and acetic acid - so there is no rinse burden and no residue to carry into product.

It is in routine use across dairy, brewing, winemaking, beverage filling, meat and poultry, egg processing and packaging: tanks, vats, fillers, evaporators, pasteurisers, aseptic equipment, hard non-porous food preparation surfaces, cold stores and transport containers. Chemtex holds an FSSAI licence for food-grade manufacture and the product is NDRI certified. Supplied in a 20-litre drum; tell us your circuit volume and process and we will work the dosing back for you.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Non-foaming, CIP compatible — Runs through a Clean-In-Place circuit without foaming out. Most disinfectants cannot, which is why they stay manual.
  • 5% peracetic acid — A concentrate: use strength is generally 0.1-4% w/w, so one drum covers a wide range of applications at very different dilutions.
  • Kills spore formers — Effective against bacterial spores as well as bacteria, fungi and viruses - the gap most routine sanitisers leave.
  • Non-toxic breakdown — Decomposes to water, oxygen and acetic acid. No residue to rinse out of a tank and nothing to carry into product.
  • FSSAI licensed, NDRI certified — Made under Chemtex’s FSSAI licence for food-grade manufacture, and NDRI certified.

HOW TO USE

  • Handle it as a 5% oxidiser — Gloves, eye protection and a face shield when decanting. Keep it away from reducing agents and incompatible metals. Store cool, upright and vented; never seal it into an unvented container.
  • Set the concentration for the application — Use strength generally runs 0.1-4% w/w. A CIP rinse, a tank soak and a surface spray are different numbers - ask us for the schedule for your process.
  • Pre-clean the circuit — Run the detergent stage first. Peracetic acid is a sanitiser, not a detergent, and soil left in the line consumes it.
  • Immerse or coarse spray — Immerse parts and small equipment; coarse spray tanks, surfaces and containers. In CIP, dose into the circuit and recirculate for the specified period.
  • Drain, no rinse needed — Drain or air dry. Breakdown is to water, oxygen and acetic acid, so a potable rinse is not required to clear residue.
