Pool Chlor — Chlorine Granules TCCA 90, 5 kg Jar

Chemtex Pool Chlor is trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA 90) in granular form - the stabilised chlorine used to disinfect swimming pools, water bodies, ponds and fountains. At 90% available chlorine it carries roughly three times the active content of bleaching powder, and because the chlorine is stabilised against sunlight it holds its residual through a full Indian summer day instead of burning off by midday.

For a commercial pool the arithmetic runs the other way: a 1,00,000-litre tank takes 1-1.5 kg per dose and a 2,00,000-litre one takes 2-3 kg, so a 5 kg jar is three to five fortnightly doses of the former. On a 50,000-litre pool the same jar stretches to six to ten doses - most of a season. Heavy bather load, high temperature and rain all shorten that, so dose to a measured free chlorine residual rather than to the calendar.

Bulk is also where the difference from bleaching powder shows up in the plant room: at roughly three times the available chlorine of commercial bleaching powder, a 5 kg jar does the work of about 15 kg of it, dissolves without leaving calcium sludge in the sand filter, and does not need the storage space or the backwash frequency.
