PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Chemtex Pool Chlor is trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA 90) in granular form - the stabilised chlorine used to disinfect swimming pools, water bodies, ponds and fountains. At 90% available chlorine it carries roughly three times the active content of bleaching powder, and because the chlorine is stabilised against sunlight it holds its residual through a full Indian summer day instead of burning off by midday.

At the standard rate of 1-1.5 kg per 1,00,000 litres, a typical residential pool needs very little at a time: 100-150 g for 10,000 litres, 200-300 g for 20,000 litres, 250-375 g for 25,000 litres. Three 1 kg jars therefore cover roughly four to six fortnightly doses of a 50,000-litre pool, and a whole season of a small one.

Three sealed jars rather than one large container is the practical choice at this scale. Granular chlorine is hygroscopic: once a big pack is opened in Indian humidity it cakes, and the last third usually gets thrown away. Opening one jar at a time keeps the rest dry. Chemtex has manufactured water treatment chemicals in Kolkata since 1970.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • TCCA 90 - 90% available chlorine — 90% available chlorine against the 25-35% of commercial bleaching powder, so you carry and store roughly a third of the weight for the same result.
  • Sunlight-stable — The cyanuric acid ring shields the chlorine from UV, holding a usable residual through the day instead of gassing off by noon.
  • No white turbidity — Dissolves without the calcium sludge bleaching powder leaves behind, which is what blinds a sand filter and clouds the water.
  • Doses evenly — Granules dissolve in a bucket and go in as a solution, so you get an even concentration rather than hot spots against the tiles.
  • Three sealed 1 kg jars — Open one at a time and the rest stays dry. Granular chlorine cakes once a large pack has been opened in humid weather, which is the usual reason half a jar gets thrown away.

HOW TO USE

  • Work out your pool volume — Length (m) × width (m) × average depth (m) × 1,000 = volume in litres. A 10 m × 5 m pool averaging 1.4 m deep holds 70,000 litres. Every dose below is per litre of pool water, so this number is the only one you need.
  • Weigh out the dose — Take 1-1.5 kg per 1,00,000 litres: 100-150 g for a 10,000-litre pool, 500-750 g for 50,000 litres. Use the higher end in hot weather or heavy use.
  • Dissolve before dosing — Stir the granules into about 5 litres of water - half a bucket - until fully dissolved. Never broadcast dry granules into the pool; undissolved granules can bleach the pool floor.
  • Pour along the pool sides — Walk the perimeter and pour the solution in steadily so it spreads with the circulation rather than settling in one corner.
  • Circulate, then swim — Run the filtration for 1-2 hours before anyone enters. Check the free chlorine residual against the standard your pool is operated to, and confirm pH is in the 7.2-7.6 band, before opening the pool.
