PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Chemtex Pool Cide is a quaternary ammonium compound algaecide for swimming pools - completely chlorine-free, so it works alongside your chlorine dose rather than competing with it. It clears green algae, blue-green algae, mustard algae, black algae and the slime film that makes pool steps and corners slippery.

At 1 litre per 1,00,000 litres, a residential pool needs a small weekly dose: 100 ml for 10,000 litres, 200 ml for 20,000 litres, 250 ml for 25,000. A 1-litre bottle is therefore about ten weekly doses of a 10,000-litre pool or four of a 25,000-litre one - for most home pools, a full season. Dose after 4 pm, because direct sun degrades the active before it has worked, and keep the pool out of use for 6 to 8 hours.

Weekly prevention is the whole trick at this size. A home pool that gets a small dose every week never goes green; one that gets nothing until the water turns needs a shock treatment, a day of brushing and a filter clean. Because Pool Cide is chlorine-free and non-foaming it does none of the eye and skin stinging that makes children refuse the pool the next morning.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Chlorine-free (TCF) — Total chlorine-free formulation. It does not consume your free chlorine residual, so algae control and disinfection are two separate jobs done properly.
  • Works on black and mustard algae — Effective against green, blue-green, mustard and black algae, plus the bacterial slime that makes steps and waterlines slippery.
  • Non-foaming — No surface foam, so the pool looks usable again as soon as the contact period is over and the skimmer is not fighting a head of froth.
  • No sting — Does not irritate swimmers’ eyes or skin the way a heavy chlorine shock does - the usual complaint after an algae treatment.
  • Filter-safe — Compatible with sand, cartridge and diatomaceous earth filters, and with every other product in the Chemtex pool range.

HOW TO USE

  • Work out your pool volume — Length (m) × width (m) × average depth (m) × 1,000 = volume in litres. A 10 m × 5 m pool averaging 1.4 m deep holds 70,000 litres. Every dose below is per litre of pool water, so this number is the only one you need.
  • Measure the dose — 1 litre per 1,00,000 litres: 100 ml for a 10,000-litre pool, 500 ml for 50,000 litres. Where algae is already visible, keep the same dose and go to twice a week rather than doubling it.
  • Dose after 4 pm — Direct sunlight breaks the active down before it has done its work. Late afternoon or evening gives it the whole night to act.
  • Pour around the perimeter — Pour the full measured quantity along the sides of the pool so it distributes with the circulation. Leave the filtration running.
  • Keep the pool closed 6-8 hours — Brush the walls and steps the next morning, then vacuum or backwash out the dead algae. Repeat weekly through the season to stop it coming back.
