PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Chemtex Pool Cide is a quaternary ammonium compound algaecide for swimming pools - completely chlorine-free, so it works alongside your chlorine dose rather than competing with it. It clears green algae, blue-green algae, mustard algae, black algae and the slime film that makes pool steps and corners slippery.
A commercial pool consumes this by the litre: 500 ml a week for a 50,000-litre pool, 1 litre for 1,00,000 litres, 2 litres for 2,00,000. Where algae has already established on the walls, dose twice a week at the same rate rather than doubling the quantity. A 5-litre jar is about ten weekly doses of a 50,000-litre pool or five of a 1,00,000-litre one, which is why clubs, hotels and housing societies order this pack rather than bottles.
The chlorine-free chemistry earns its place in a commercial plant room. A chlorine-based algaecide eats into the free residual the pool is expected to hold, so algae control and disinfection end up fighting each other and the chlorine bill goes up. Pool Cide leaves the residual alone. It is also non-foaming, so the skimmer keeps working and the pool does not look out of service the morning after a treatment.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
- Chlorine-free (TCF) — Total chlorine-free formulation. It does not consume your free chlorine residual, so algae control and disinfection are two separate jobs done properly.
- Works on black and mustard algae — Effective against green, blue-green, mustard and black algae, plus the bacterial slime that makes steps and waterlines slippery.
- Non-foaming — No surface foam, so the pool looks usable again as soon as the contact period is over and the skimmer is not fighting a head of froth.
- No sting — Does not irritate swimmers’ eyes or skin the way a heavy chlorine shock does - the usual complaint after an algae treatment.
- Filter-safe — Compatible with sand, cartridge and diatomaceous earth filters, and with every other product in the Chemtex pool range.
HOW TO USE
- Work out your pool volume — Length (m) × width (m) × average depth (m) × 1,000 = volume in litres. A 10 m × 5 m pool averaging 1.4 m deep holds 70,000 litres. Every dose below is per litre of pool water, so this number is the only one you need.
- Measure the dose — 1 litre per 1,00,000 litres: 100 ml for a 10,000-litre pool, 500 ml for 50,000 litres. Where algae is already visible, keep the same dose and go to twice a week rather than doubling it.
- Dose after 4 pm — Direct sunlight breaks the active down before it has done its work. Late afternoon or evening gives it the whole night to act.
- Pour around the perimeter — Pour the full measured quantity along the sides of the pool so it distributes with the circulation. Leave the filtration running.
- Keep the pool closed 6-8 hours — Brush the walls and steps the next morning, then vacuum or backwash out the dead algae. Repeat weekly through the season to stop it coming back.
