PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Chemclean 01 is a liquid descaling chemical for low and medium sized process heat transfer systems. It removes inorganic water scale - calcium, magnesium, barium and other metal salts - together with rust, heavy iron oxide deposits and the suspended contaminants that collect on boiler internals. It is the liquid counterpart to the Chemclean 05 powder, and the choice where dosing a solution into a circuit is easier than dissolving a powder first.
Prepare a 10 to 20% by weight solution, preferably in warm water at 70-80°C, and circulate it for 8 to 10 hours using an acid-compatible pump with a polypropylene impeller. A 10 kg pack therefore makes roughly 50 to 100 litres of descaling solution. Flush the solution out afterwards and rinse with clean water.
Passivation is the step most descales skip and then regret: follow with Alstascale PS20 at 2 to 5% by weight, recirculated for an hour at ambient temperature, to stop flash rusting on the freshly cleaned metal. Chemclean 01 is suitable for mild steel, stainless steel, copper and copper alloys such as cupro-nickel - but not for zinc or galvanised surfaces.

- 10 kg makes 50-100 litres — At 10-20% by weight, one pack covers a small to medium circuit in a single clean.
HOW TO USE
- Check the metallurgy first — Suitable for mild steel, stainless steel, copper and copper alloys including cupro-nickel. Not for zinc or galvanised surfaces - confirm before dosing.
- Make up 10-20% by weight — Prepare the solution in warm water, preferably 70-80°C. Heat does much of the work here; a cold circulation takes far longer for the same result.
- Circulate 8-10 hours — Use an acid-compatible pump with a polypropylene impeller. Run the full period - stopping early leaves the hardest deposits in place.
- Flush and rinse — Flush out the entire solution and rinse through with clean water.
- Passivate with Alstascale PS20 — Recirculate PS20 at 2-5% by weight for an hour at ambient temperature, then flush and return to service. This is what stops flash rusting on clean metal.
