PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Chemtex glycerine - glycerol, vegetable glycerin - at 99.7% purity in a 1-litre bottle. Non-GMO, gluten free, with no added preservatives or other chemicals, which is what makes it usable in formulations where the specification is written around what is not in it.

It does three different jobs depending on where it goes. In cosmetics and personal care it works as an emulsifier and as an emollient in lotions, shampoos, moisturisers and soap making - glycerine is hygroscopic, so it draws moisture into the skin rather than sitting on it. In cold conditions it works as an antifreeze: it forms strong hydrogen bonds with water molecules and inhibits ice formation. In coatings and paints it acts as a softener, plasticiser and lubricant across a range of household and institutional applications.

The 1-litre bottle is the formulator's and small-batch size - soap makers, cosmetic start-ups, laboratories, school and college practicals, and workshops that need a known-purity glycerine rather than an unlabelled one. For drum quantities at the same specification, ask us for a quote.

  • Store it closed — Glycerine is hygroscopic and will pull water out of the air. Keep the bottle tightly closed, cool and dry, or the purity you paid for drifts.
